It measures 18cm in length. Bird of extraordinary physical beauty and sound. For these characteristics is a very hunted bird. No sexual dimorphism. Immature brownish, with rufous tuft.

It feeds on grains.
reproduction
The Cardinals are territorial during the breeding season. Each litter is generally between 2 and 3 eggs having 2 to 4 litters per season. The chicks hatch after 13 days.
habits
Like most songbirds, form bands at the time of changes. Lives in paddy edges, fields with high vegetation and forest edges.
