Is your habit of following fires that draws the most attention, the common name reason, hawk-smoking. Flies to the burnt, usually landing on branches in front of the fire, or walk behind the flames, sometimes a few meters of the flames. In front of the fire, catching the small vertebrates and insects fleeing the fire, while the back of eating animals and insects dying or killed by fire. It has an area of exclusive hunting, away from the other hawks-mestizos. The couple communicates through a thin, long and tearful whistle, repeated continuously. Fly high, enjoying the warm air currents to soar, or through active flight, with rhythmic beat of the wings. Extremely aloof, the Caboclo hawk is always alert to any movement, taking off quickly when it feels threatened
