The Cicada-bamboo is a passerine bird in the Emberizidae family.

It measures about 13 cm, and the female is olive, with lighter bottoms and the throat and the chest striated olive dark.

It feeds on seeds and arthropods. In Bamboo fruit of the time appears in large flocks.

Has an average of 2 litters per season with 3 eggs each.

Lives in pairs in the understory and middle stratum of rich woods in taquarais.
