The Plain Antvireo is a passerine bird in the family Thamnophilidae. Also known as samoco or xorró-to-tail short.
It measures about 11.5 cm long and weighs 12.5 g. The male has a dark gray top and gray-white below, while the female has the crown of cinnamon color, the top of brownish and gray-olive ridley lower.
It usually lives in pairs, jumping slowly in search of small insects.
Makes nest cupped in bushes. Add 2 whitish eggs, spotted with brown-purple.
It inhabits the understory of mountain forests, forest edges, secondary forests and gallery forests. It is common, especially in southeastern Brazil.
